In 1932 Bekarian graduated from the Geghard College in Yerevan having studied under V. Gayphetjian and S. Arakelian.
In 1933, he graduated from the Painting, Sculpture and Architecture Institute in Leningrad.
Participated in Finnish and Great Patriotic Wars.
Held individual exhibitions in Yerevan and in Moscow.
In 1945 he was awarded the title of Honored Art Worked of the Soviet Armenian Republic and in 1965 he became the National Artist of the Soviet Armenian Republic.
